PSAT

The PSAT stands for the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test. The PSAT is created by the College Board to help high school students prepare for the real SAT. The test is about 2 hours and 14 minutes with sections for reading, writing and math. The PSAT is a qualifier for the National Merit Scholarship.

October 14th-15th

All 10th graders and paying 11th graders will have the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), an important step that provides many benefits that can help along the path to college and career. This test measures student skills and knowledge of topics that set you up for success in high school and beyond.

This test gives each student an opportunity to take the next step to college. Three things you will gain from taking the PSAT/NMSQT™

Connect to scholarships. The PSAT/NMSQT connects you to our scholarship partners, who offer over $220 million annually* in scholarships to qualified low-income and minority students. Students should say “yes” to Student Search Service® on the day of the test so that scholarship partners can find them.
Get free, personalized SAT practice. The PSAT/NMSQT is great preparation for the SAT®. Your teen’s score even unlocks a personalized SAT study plan on Khan Academy®. It’s completely free. Students simply go to satpractice.org, create an account, and link their College Board and Khan Academy accounts to get a study plan based on their test results.
Receive AP course recommendations. Student score reports will suggest AP® courses that are a great match for them. AP can give your teen an edge in the admission process and allows them to earn college credit while in high school, which could save time and money in college.

Exam Cost: The cost of the PSAT/NMSQT is $18.00 and must be paid to the banker no later than August 28, 2026.
