Students whose family situation does not allow for attendance of the first day of school, must follow district procedures and complete a “pre-arranged absence” form with the program assistant principal prior to the first day of school.

PROBATION

Students will be placed and notified of probation status at the conclusion of the 1st semester. Any student failing to meet the standards and policies listed below, may be placed on probation status. Should the behavior, attendance or academic standards fail to be met during the 2nd semester, the student will be given a “non-return” status.

NON-RETURN INFORMATION

Any student who meets the criteria below will be non-returned for the following school year. Students, who make up failed credits, may appeal with the Admissions Office in August. Failed major courses cannot be made up.

Notification of non-return status is given at the end of the third quarter and/or at the end of 2nd semester via certified mail. Students will be placed on “non-return status” and must return to their zoned high school when one or more of the following conditions occur:

  • Student meets the criteria listed in non-return chart.

  • Student’s behavioral conduct falls below Southeast Tech's expectations and/or a student is referred to an alternative placement

  • Absences exceed the CCSD guidelines and/or the student receives denial of credit due to attendance.

Students on “non-return status” may appeal with the Admissions office. Appeals will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Any student appealing the “non-return status” for grades must meet the following conditions:

  • Students must repeat any failed classes prior to the start of the next school year earning a passing grade of a C or better. Students may make-up external credits by utilizing CCSD Summer School or other CCSD approved method of credit retrieval such as APEX or online through Nevada Learning Academy.

  • When a failed class is not offered in summer school or externally, a student must take the entire one credit (1st and 2nd semester) of either PE II or one of their required social studies credits for the following school year during summer school; only then will the student be allowed to repeat the entire failed class during the following school year.

  • Students must return a signed copy of their appeal and provide proof of successful completion of summer school or external credit to the Admissions Office by the first Monday in August, as instructed in the letter, in order to be considered to return to Southeast Tech. If students fail to follow this procedure, they will be considered a non-return student and sent back to their home/zoned school at the start of the school year.
