Please note that you have to be nominated electronically by your home university in order to apply for an exchange at Leibniz Universität. This nomination must be submitted by April 30th for the winter semester and by October 31st for the following summer semester.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Step 1: Complete the online application

Please fill out the online application from the University Office for International Affairs.

After entering your data, you will be shown a check page to check your entries, which you can correct again if necessary and then send electronically. After sending the data, you will receive a PDF document with your application form. Please print out this document. If you currently do not have access to a printer, you can save the PDF document first and print it out later. If you want to change your details after sending the online application electronically, please repeat the process. Based on the date and time, we can see which is your most recent and probably final registration.

Step 2: Prepare documents for dispatch

  1. Please complete your online application with your passport photo and your signature. Then have it signed and stamped by the exchange coordinator at your university. Without your signature and the signature of the exchange coordinator on the printout of the online form, your application cannot be considered!

  2. We also need proof of sufficient knowledge (according to CEFR intermediate level) of the teaching language (German and / or English in some areas). Before applying, please find out in which language most of the courses or research in your department are held.

  3. Please send us a current transcript of records (overview of grades) which shows the courses and / or modules you have already taken at your home university.

  4. We also need your learning agreement . You should select courses from our annotated course catalogs or from the module catalogs together with your subject coordinator. Since the current courses are only available about one month before the start of the semester, you should take a look at the course catalogs for the previous year. After your arrival in Hanover, you can update your learning agreement.

You can find more information on searching for courses here: Course choice

Step 3: Send your application documents

Please make sure that your application documents are sent to us by email no later than May 31 one year for the following winter semester or on November 30th if you want to study here in the summer semester!

After we have received your written documents, your application has been checked and the Faculty has confirmed you will receive a letter of admission from us along with the signed forms and all the important information.

Please do not send any enrollment forms to us or to other offices at Leibniz Universität Hannover. You will only be enrolled during your first few days in Hanover.
