SEG Wavelets are hosting Victor M. Taboada, PhD, P.E., and Marine Geotechnical Manager Americas from Fugro this Friday, April 19th from 1-2:30pm in SR 634!
His talk is titled, "An Outlook on Renewable Energy: Foundations, Installation, and Future Trends for Offshore Wind in the US". This presentation will provide quantitative information about the offshore wind market, technology trends, and cost trends in the United States and worldwide. It covers the global offshore wind industry for the 2023 calendar year and the most significant US domestic industry progress and events from January 1, 2022, through May 31, 2023. The foundation types and their installations are presented with videos. Dr. Sergey Fomel, Wallace E. Pratt Professor of Geophysics at The University of Texas at Austin and the director of the Texas Consortium for Computational Seismology, joined us at UH to give his talk regarding science and ethics and what moral obligations there are for scientists outside of professional conduct. This struck up a lot of good discussion amongst our attendees. Also, fun fact, this talk was also based on the new Oppenheimer movie!
Dr. Mark Willis joined SEG Wavelets at UH to give his Distinguished Instructor Short Course on Distributed Acoustic Sensing for Seismic Measurements on February 25, 2024.
