Wonders 2023
Wonders 2023
Wonders empowers readers and writers to take an active role in learning and exploration and expand their world through literacy. This evidence-based K–5 ELA program provides students with unparalleled opportunities for student-friendly self-assessments and self-expression through reading, writing, and speaking. From foundational skills to extended writing, and from establishing a strong classroom culture to setting learning goals, every student deserves high-quality instruction at the right moment in their education, resulting in strong educational outcomes. By experiencing diverse perspectives and sharing their own, students will expand their learning. Best-in-class differentiation ensures that every student has opportunities to become strong readers, writers, and critical thinkers.
Tests:
In weeks 1, 3, and 5 we will take a Selection Test. These tests will challenge kiddos to remember the story they read all week as well as understand the vocabulary that has been heavily reviewed throughout the week.
In weeks 2, 4, and 6, we will take a progress monitoring assessment (PMA). This test is a cold read meaning the students have never seen the passages being presented to them. They will read the passages and then answer questions based on the comprehension skills, vocabulary skills, and genre of the previous two weeks.
Scores from the tests will be written on their reading packets and will be sent home at the end of each unit.
Book Projects
Students are expected to read one chapter book every month. After reading the book, they will complete a book project about what they read. Each month's project will have a different theme. Students have until the last school day of each month to complete the project. This will be done in class AND at home to get it completed. See the slide show below to find more information!
