Hello, My name is Suzi Broaddus (Ms. B) and I am your fifth grade homeroom teacher! This is my 1st year as a teacher at Nespelem Elementary and I have been in education for over 20 years. I live in Entiat on an apple and pear orchard but stay in Nespelem during the school week. I have a dog named Gizmo and we enjoy hiking and camping and outdoor activities. I am excited to get to know your students this year.
In addition to being Homeroom teacher for 5th grade. I will also be teaching math and science to 5th and 6th grade. Below are short descriptions of what students will be learning in both subjects this year and a learning link for them to practice their skills!
Science will focus is on Structure & Properties of Matter, Matter and Energy in Ecosystems, Earth Systems, Space Systems, and Engineering Design. We will be learning how to be scientist and explore through STEM activities by using critical thinking skills to ask, observe, experiment, and evaluate our projects.
Math will focus is on hands on activities that increase students understanding and application of math in the real world. We will be using STEM activities that support the concepts that we are learning in ratios, number systems, expressions and equations, geometry, and statistics.
