NSCSD UPK Program - Registration

Welcome to the North Syracuse Central School District!

We’re excited to be part of your child’s educational journey!

To enroll in our Universal Pre-K Program, all students must have a current registration with the North Syracuse Central School District. If your child was registered in a previous school year, you’ll need to complete a new registration for Universal Pre-K so we have the most up-to-date information about your preschooler. There are three ways to register: online, in person, or by mail.

My child was born between December 2, 2020 and December 1, 2021

Your child is eligible for UPK this school year!

Registration for the current school year (2025-2026) is still open, but there is limited classroom availability. Even if a classroom is currently full, we encourage families to register. Openings may become available throughout the year as families move or schedules change.

If a space becomes available, the UPK office will contact families on the waitlist. To check current availability or to join the waitlist, please call the UPK office at (315) 218-2056.

My child was born between December 2, 2021 and December 1, 2022

Your child is eligible for UPK for the 2026–2027 school year!

Important Dates:

Registration begins: January 12, 2026
Initial lottery deadline: February 9, 2026

To be included in the initial lottery, all required documents must be submitted by February 9, 2026.

Since UPK is grant-funded through New York State, there is a limited number of spots, and enrollment cannot be guaranteed. Due to this, student placement is determined through a random lottery, not on a first-come, first-served basis. Registering during the enrollment window gives your family the best chance of securing a spot at your preferred location.

Important: Incomplete applications cannot be entered into the lottery. Please double-check that all required documents are submitted before the deadline.

My child was born on or after December 2, 2022

Your child is not yet eligible for UPK.

Please look for more information from the North Syracuse Central School District in fall 2026 about UPK registration for the 2027–2028 school year.

My child was born on or before December 1, 2020

Your child is already eligible for kindergarten or beyond. Contact the Registration Office to learn more about how to register your child for Elementary School.

Online Registration

To Register Online:

Step 1: Gather Required Documentation
Before you begin, collect and take clear photos of each of the following documents:

Parent/Guardian Photo ID
Proof of Birth for each child being registered (birth certificate, passport, or immigration document)
Proof of Residency in the parent/legal guardian’s name with a current date (utility bill, lease/rental agreement, or mortgage statement)
- If you do not have one of these forms of residency, please contact the registrar for assistance.
Copy of IEP/504 Plan (if applicable)
Custody or Foster Care Documents (if applicable)

Step 2: Complete Online Registration

Register for a SchoolTool account or log in to your existing account.
Follow the on-screen steps and upload photos of all required documents.
Once all information has been entered, you will receive a session key and be asked to create a password.
- Make a note of your password.
- Click Save to complete this step.
Email any outstanding documents to REGISTRAR@NSCSD.ORG.
- If using a smartphone, choose “Share” when sending your documents.

Important Information About Online Registration

Incomplete online registrations are retained for 30 days.
Regularly check the email address used during registration for communications from the registrar.
If your registration is incomplete, you will be notified by email.
Incomplete registrations that are not completed within 30 days will be deleted.
If your registration is deleted, you may resubmit it by registering again as a new user.
If all required registration documents (birth certificate/passport, parent ID, and proof of residency) are not submitted by the end of the UPK lottery period, your application will be considered incomplete and will not be included in the lottery.

Register in person

To register in person:

Download and complete the registration packet ahead of time
Gather required documentation
1. Photo ID of parent or legal guardian
2. Proof of birth for each child being registered. This can be a birth certificate, passport, or immigration document.
3. Proof of residency in parent/legal guardian’s name with a current date. This can be a utility bill, lease/rent agreement, or mortgage statement. Contact the registrar if you do not have one of these forms of residency.
4. Copy of IEP/504 if applicable
5. Custody or foster care documents if applicable
Bring your completed registration packet and any required backup documentation to the registration office, which is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Register by mail

To register by mail:

Download and complete the registration packet ahead of time
Gather required documentation
1. Photo ID of parent or legal guardian
2. Proof of birth for each child being registered. This can be a birth certificate, passport, or immigration document.
