Footnotes

Footnotes are inserted at the END of each sentence and then compile themselves at the bottom of your paper.  They are needed EVERY time you use a piece of your research in your paper.

Tips:

General Format:

• Author's last name 

  • Example: Smith

• If there is no author listed, use the first word (or words) of the article title in quotation marks.

  • Example: "Research"

• Variations:

  • 2  Authors:

    • Include BOTH authors

      1. Example: Jordan and Snell

  • More than 3 Authors

    • Include the first author listed followed by et al.

      1. Example: Jordan et al.

  • Information Quoted in an Article

    • Use the author, first important word of article title, of the article that YOU are using

      1. qtd. in Your Author's last name

To add a footnote in Docs follow these steps:

• Directly after the period, click Insert (top of the page)

• Then click Footnote

• Include the author's last name, page number(s)

• • Photographs / Pictures

    • Include the entire MLA citation directly under the image
