At the beginning of the school year I talk about how to take care of books. It is important that no food or drink (and very young siblings and pets!) come in contact with library books!

I also talk about the students' responsibilities in remembering to bring the books they borrowed back to school when they've finished reading. A helpful idea is to have a special place at home for library books so they will stay neat and clean and be easy to find when it is time to return it.

I encourage children to keep their books until they are finished reading it, so they do not have to return the book the week after they borrowed it. Books are checked out to students for 2 weeks. They can renew books without bringing them back to the library.
