How long may a child keep a library book before returning it?

I encourage students to exchange their books weekly if they are finished reading them.  However, students may keep a book for two weeks before it is considered overdue.  Books that students are still reading may be renewed as long as they are not on a waiting list for other students.

What do I do if my child can't find his or her library book? 

First of all, relax.  Most times books are not really lost - just misplaced.  Often children cannot remember the title of the book they've checked out.  And it's tricky to find a book when you're not sure what you're looking for!

If the book is truly lost, there is a replacement fee of $15.00. 

My child lost a book.  May I purchase the replacement book?

We ask that you send in cash or a check rather than buy a replacement book.  We purchase only hardcover library edition books for the library, through a vendor that delivers books all ready to upload to our circulation system.  It is more difficult to manually add a title to our program and print bar code labels for books from other vendors.
