As we adapt to our new normal, our cameras tell the stories of our families, homes, pass times, and what we miss most.
Whether captured by a sophisticated SLR, or using the features of a smartphone, taking control of shutter speed captures the motion of our new normal. Photos by students in Photo I, Photo II, and Digital Art classes.
When landscape photographer Frank Gohlke moved to Southborough over 30 years ago, he found Massachusetts chaotic compared to the midwest. He sought solace while making photos of the Sudbury River over the next several years.
A look at an enhanced map shows that nearly every stream in Northborough flows into the Assabet River, while each stream in Southborough flows into the Sudbury River or Reservoir. Both rivers meet to form the Concord River, meaning that even when our students are apart, they are connected by the flow of water.
During the time school has been closed, students have been offered choices of assignments that can be completed with a variety of cameras and technology. Each week, seeking solace in the rivers, streams, trails, and open spaces of Northborough and Southborough has been an option, and beautifully documenting the transition from late winter, to spring, and now early summer.
