Canvas

Canvas is a complete online classroom suite allowing teachers to post content (video, documents, etc.), quizzes, and assignments. Many other applications (Google, Nearpod, Quizlet, and lots more) can be loaded directly into Canvas so students can be managed in one location.

Please note that the largest problem I see with Canvas is logging in. Some people Google "Canvas" and are taken to Canvas' own domain. Our students and teachers must make sure they are going to https://northsanpete.instructure.com. You must also be signed into your school Google account, not a personal Google account.

If you need any assistance with Canvas, once you are logged in, there is a help tab in the left-navigation (it looks like the icon on the left) that will give you many more resources. There are Teacher and Students Guides, Conference Guides for Remote Classrooms, a Live Chat With Canvas Support for faculty, and a Canvas Support Hotline specific to our district.

If you'd like to join my Growing With Canvas course, feel free. It's an open class for teachers looking to learn or improve their understanding of how Canvas can help their students learn. Just click on the image to the left. Then click "Enroll in Course."

There is also a Passport To Canvas quick start guide for students, if they need an introductory "course" for Canvas. Students can self-enroll in this course (which I am currently the teacher of, but it's really a self-led course) by clicking on the image on the left, then clicking "Enroll in Course." If teachers wish to have a copy of this course, you can also find it in the Canvas Commons and import it into a blank course of your making.

Did you know that there are FULL COURSES from BYU in Canvas Commons that you can download and import into your Middle and High School classes?!!

You can get to them by going into the Canvas Commons (found in the left-navigation). From there, select the "Filter" button at the top-right, then scroll down until you see "BYU Independent Study Blended Resources". Now you will see all 152 courses that you can import into any other course and only publish the content that you want. I recommend creating a blank course to import the content into, then transferring over just the content you want into your actual course.
