FAQś: Frequently Asked Questions!
Borrowing:
Students are encouraged to borrow library books during their regularly scheduled library classes. Books may be borrowed for up to 7 days and are expected to be returned at their next library class. However, there are exceptions:
1) If your child is an avid reader and in the older grades, they are encouraged NOT TO WAIT for their library class if they have finished their book. WITH their teachers"permission, they can use a special pass to come to the library during the day to return their book and check out another. In grades 3 and 4 they have learned how to Check In and Check Out a book using our Destiny Catalog.
Returning Books
2) If your child has not returned their library book, they will not be able to check out another until their book is returned. We do NOT charge fines, but if a book is lost or damaged beyond repair, we request that payment be made before your child will be able to check out another library book. An invoice will be sent home.
We realize that lost books often turn up later, and if they are returned in good condition after you have paid for it, we will happily refund the payment. Please know that you can return books even if you move by just dropping it at any Public or School Library that is a member of Interlibrary Loan RI (ILL).
3) Taking Books Home: In Grades 3 and 4, most books may go home, but we strongly encourage students not to take books home if they cannot keep them in their backpacks or forget to bring them back on their regularly scheduled library day. If the book is needed for an in-class project, we recommend they are kept in the classroom so they are readily available during the week.
