June spent 17 years working in the private sector before she entered teaching. With a BA in Elementary Education she became employed as an executive assistant in the House of Representatives at the Rhode Island State House. Several years later she began studying at the University of Rhode Island for a Masters in Reading and decided to open her own Early Childhood Center Rainbow's End. With certification in early childhood and elementary education she returned to the public schools as a substitute teacher for the various schools departments of Aquidneck Island. For a brief period she was the Children's Librarian for the city of East Providence hosting a weekly TV Book Corner on Saturday mornings. Then she obtained her MLIS from the University of Rhode Island and became a school librarian in Somerset, before joining the Newport School system in 1997. As an elementary librarian she became familiar with the various elementary schools in Newport before entering the Grade 5 classroom at Sheffield and Carey before their closings. She spent 12 years as the Rogers High School librarian before joining the staff at Pell Elementary.
Stacey spent 20 years in international banking, before becoming a school librarian.
With an MBA from the University of South Carolina, she travelled extensively and won the Chairman’s Award for Innovation while at Standard Chartered Bank. Seeing the impact of technology worldwide, she transitioned to becoming a librarian to teach information literacy. She earned her Masters in Library Science from URI, and became the first Children’s/Young Adult librarian for the Redwood Library, where she also set up a gift shop earning a “Best in Rhode Island” award. A K-12 certified School Library Media Specialist, she joined the Newport School system in 2006, served as Secretary of the the Rhode Island School Library Association and is currently a member of the Rhode Island Society of Technology Educators.
