Before school: Please feel free to come to school for extra help from 7:00-7:30 am, tuesday through thursday, you must EMAIL MR. WEBBER BEFORE arriving.*
After school; I am the high school girls JV soccer coach, thus after school extra help will not be offered until the culmination of the season.
Hello all! My name is Nicholas Webber. I am so excited to have you joining our seventh grade classroom at NPMS. This is going to be an exciting year for all of us. I'm confident that we are up to the task.
Seventh grade can be a tumultuous time (take it from me, I was one...) and I know that there will be ups and downs but we will work together to ensure that our classroom is a community we are all proud to be a part of!
Here a couple of "Classroom Norm Questions" to consider before school starts each day:
-Am I acting in a manner that uplifts others?
-Am I working to the best of my ability?
-Am I trying to leave judgement at the door and enter class and school with an open mind?
-Am I contributing to a classroom community that I have fun AND feel safe in while learning?
-Do I feel safe? Am I communicating within the classroom what I need and what I offer? (Easier said that done, I know from experience!)
A little bit about myself; I am a proud NP alum! I have had the fortune of countless opportunities that have helped shape the person and teacher I am! I believe part of my responsibility is to ensure others receive the same opportunity as I have. I am a former middle school science teacher in Newark, NJ. I am an alumni of Montclair State University where I studied Biology and earned a Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing. I currently hold a Standard Cert for K-12 Biology teaching in NJ. And I am currently enrolled at Montclair State in a Masters Program, ask me about! I love to teach! I feel as though I have learned more from teaching than any other endeavor I have undertaken!
'What is seventh grade science going to look like?" Because we are going to be preparing you for high school and beyond, you will be challenged! As students you will dive into analysis and interpretation of the fossil records, we will be deconstructing bath bombs to try and make sense of matter, we will be explaining why mountains such as Mt. Everest shift their height over time. We will be exploring properties of matter through the use of chemical reactions. You will construct explanations about how Earth's minerals, energy, and groundwater are the result of past and current processes. Put simply; there will be an abundance of opportunity for students to engage in science, discourse, and 'outside the box' thinking.
I am incredibly eager to be working in New Providence as I am a resident and former student of the system. I have a love of biological and physical science, of ecology and will do everything I can to instill the same love of the sciences in all of you!
Please feel free to reach me at the email address above and look to this site for updates and information into the upcoming few weeks as we prepare for the 20-21 school year!
