NPHS Orchestra- A Pirate’s Legend By Soon Hee Newbold Ft. Alison And Eric 3 17 23

Ben Rubens is his fifth year in the New Providence School District with 2023-2024 being his fourth full year as the Director of Orchestra at both New Providence Middle School and New Providence High School! Mr. Rubens also worked in New Providence during the 2019-2020 school year as the long term sub for orchestra at New Providence Middle School and New Providence High School as well as a long term sub at AWR for band. Ben graduated from the Manhattan School of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Double Bass Performance and is now pursuing a Masters in Music Education online through Rutgers University.

 In addition to working happily in public education, Mr. Rubens has had an active performance career on the double bass for many years. Performances include: The Kennedy Center, The Apollo Theater, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Blue Note Milano, Blue Note Beijing, The Nice Jazz Festival and the Red Sea Jazz Festival. He is a featured performer on a number of CDs, including the Smoke Sessions Recording “In The Moment,” by the Johnny O’Neal Trio Ft. late trumpet master Roy Hargrove. Mr. Rubens is delighted to be a part of this wonderful family in New Providence and happily took  in 2022’s “Seussical” & 2023's "Nice Work If You Can Get It".
