Middle School Summer Reading Language Arts 2023


Students entering grade 7 must-read two books of their choice for Language Arts summer reading.  Students may borrow books from the New Providence Memorial Library, purchase their books, or use our NPSD Sora/OverDrive Collection for eBooks. You may not read a book you have already read.  Please fill out the assignment below when you finish reading the book.  Please fill it out for each book you read. 7th Grade Summer Reading Assignment.  Sign in with your school Google account. NPMS Teacher Recommendations


Students entering grade 8 must read two books for Language Arts following the guidelines posted here: Summer Reading Book Guidelines (Google Doc.)  Summer Reading Guidelines (PDF format).  Students must fill out the Note Taking Template (Google Doc, you will be prompted to make a copy) for each book Note Taking Template (PDF).  Students may check out books from the New Providence Memorial Library (the public library has many of the titles on the list and others to recommend), purchase their books or borrow eBooks via Sora on their iPads or other devices. Look for the 8th Grade Summer Reading Collection in Sora. 


The New Providence Memorial Library will offer a summer reading program called "Reach New Heights".  Students can count the books they read for school for the NPML program.  See links below for more information.
