Google Classroom
Google Classroom is where your child can find and submit all of their assignments. Teachers will communicate, post classroom announcements, leave feedback, and assign grades through this application. Students can attach photos, videos, and documents to assignments.
How do I open an attachment to edit it and send it back to my teacher? Watch the video on the right to see how to open and work on an assignment from Google Classroom for a Google Slides or Docs. It is not necessary to attach and turn in an assignment unless the teacher directs the students to do so.
Google Classroom Introduction
Note: Google Meet is not used, instead Zoom will be used for all videoconferencing.
How to Use Google Classroom
This video details how to navigate Google Classroom as a student or a parent.
It is important that while students are using the Google Classroom app they "refresh" the app often by swiping down while using the Google Classroom app. This is done to force the app to send/receive data and display the latest information about postings, assignments, announcements, etc. from their Google Classroom classes.
Google Classroom - The To Do List
Students that have more than one teacher or are in more than one Google Classroom, using the To Do List feature allows student to see ALL of their assignments from ALL of their Google Classrooms in ONE location.
Assignments - Copied to Student
Make a copy for each student—Students get their own copy of the Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides file with their name added to the document title. The teacher and the student can edit the document. When students TURN IN the assignment, they can’t edit the document until the teacher returns it to them.
Note: Failing to TURN IN an assignment will result in Google Classroom listing the assignment as missing.
Assignment - Student Can Only View
Students can view file—All students can read the file, but not edit it. In order to edit, the student must make a copy of the document. The copy of the document is then completed and attached to the assignment.
The final step is selecting TURN IN.
Note: Failing to TURN IN an assignment will result in Google Classroom listing the assignment as missing.
The videos below demonstrate how to work on, attach, and submit PDF documents that have been assigned through Google Classroom using the Notability App:
Importing a PDF from Google Classroom into Notability
This step brings the PDf into Notability where the student can organize and store for easy access. The student can edit the PDF at any time using Notability.
Exporting Notability PDF to Files, then attaching to an assignment
This step is for when the student has completed their editing in Notability and is ready to TURN IN the assignment.
Note: Failing to TURN IN an assignment will result in Google Classroom listing the assignment as missing.
Unsubmitting and re-attaching files
This step is for when the student needs to unsubmit and reattach files to an assignment.
