COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The Geometry course is designed to familiarize each student with plane and some aspects of solid Euclidean Geometry. Properties and relationships of geometric figures are studied in detail through deductive reasoning from a minimum set of assumptions and undefined terms. Concepts from elementary logic, analytic geometry and transformation geometry are included. This course is fully aligned to the NJSLS.

THINK outside the box! The best thing about math is that there are different ways to do just about everything!
Have PRIDE in your work! If you try, you will succeed.
Live your life with INTEGRITY. ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for cheating of any kind.
Cell phone use is not permitted during class time unless the class activity warrants the use of a phone!

PARTICIPATION:
It is essential that you participate in class. Participation includes asking questions, answering questions, and working in groups. Participation includes following the classroom rules as well as being respectful of the teacher and other students in the classroom.
HOMEWORK:
All work must be shown for full credit
All work must be uploaded to the Google classroom no later than 7:30am the day it’s due. I will be checking for completion. (Some will be graded and you will be notified when the HW is graded on correctness)
We will check homework briefly in the beginning of each class.
Homework is a grade booster!!
Late work will be accepted for partial credit
After 2 days, no late work will be accepted.
If you need help on the homework, see me after school. You must make an appointment with me/notify me if you plan to come see me.
ABSENCES/ MAKE UP WORK
If you are absent, always check the Google Classroom. I will post the notes to you privately.
The next day you return to school, come to see me to review what you missed (I can give you any papers and instructions needed)
You are expected to complete missed work ASAP. When you see me, I will give you due dates of when I need the work.
If you are absent before a test or quiz, expect to take the assessment with the class. Depending on how many of the lessons you missed, we will discuss any makeup tests.**This is situation- based**
GRADING POLICY
Grades will be assigned using the school provided point system found in the student handbook. There will be no extra credit!
Your grade for this class will be made up of the following components.
Homework- usually range between 5-20 points
Checkpoints and Warmups – Ranging between 10-20 points, graded on accuracy
Quizzes– Quizzes usually range between 25-100 points
HALL PASS POLICY:
Please use your discretion. Only one student may be out of the classroom at a time. You must sign in and out. Again, YOU are responsible for everything you miss when you are not present in the classroom. You should only be going out of the classroom if it is an emergency!
COMPUTER/CELL PHONE POLICY:
Ipads will be used OCCASIONALLY in class. We will be taking notes, completing worksheets, and using online programs.
When you enter the room, place your phone in the numbered pocket you are assigned.
No cell phone use during class is acceptable unless I give you permission
If you need to use your phone (emergency- based), please let me know and we can discuss when it is appropriate.
Please put your phone on DND or silent. It is disruptive to the class if we are constantly hearing ringtones.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Conceptual Geometry focuses on the key topics that provide a strong foundation in geometry. Properties and relationships of geometric figures are studied through inductive reasoning. Geometric concepts are applied to real world applications. While proof is not emphasized, students are introduced to both inductive and deductive reasoning to demonstrate theorems. This course is fully aligned to the NJSLS.
