"Writing and art define a community. Throughout history, it has given us a glimpse of what it means to be human, and shows us how no one definition can encapsulate the term. I think The Scribe serves as a reflection of the collective student body; besides all the grades and expectations that come with being a student, it unveils the simple joy of creation. I know many students at NHS who are incredibly talented, and I hope our school publication serves as a platform for all creators, regardless of their medium, to join together as a community and showcase our talent."

"I enjoy drawing, doing calligraphy, and reading philosophy. I love art of any form--whether that be musically, written, or artistically--because of the creation aspect. Art can be created from nothing, but the end result will be something new and beautiful. I believe the ability to make and experience art is an amazing and fortunate thing. It motivates people to continue the creation of art, and through that, do what they love."

"The Scribe is important to our school because it allows you to be heard—whether through writing or works of visual art. The students at NHS have so much creativity, but little space to express it. Last year, there were three members in The Scribe, including me. By October of 2023, we had already garnered about five times our previous number of members! With so many new faces and talents, I hope we can make The Scribe a welcoming place for all people to share their artistry with others.”

"Hi! I'm a high school junior who's passionate about a variety of things. I've got a knack for skateboarding and longboarding, which gives me a thrill like no other. When I'm not cruising on wheels, I'm busy drawing and capturing moments through photography. I'm also a tech enthusiast who loves to code and tinker with computers. But it's not all serious stuff. I'm a fun-loving, goofy guy, especially when I'm with my friends. We spend a lot of time together, sharing laughter and making memories."

"Hello, my name is Paige Mimnaugh and I am a sophomore in high school! I love to play guitar and journal, and I also love to read and play with my brothers at home. I am training to be a writing tutor this year, so in The Scribe, I will be writing many columns and editing. The Scribe is important because it helps inform students about what is going on at our school, and it also is a fun way to be included in games and activities."

"My name is Liana Chojnowski and I'm a junior in Newington High school. Some things that interest me include drawing, listening to music and playing music too. Depending on the seasons, I also enjoy skiing and traveling outside the country to see family and in general, new places. Being part of the Adventure club and marching band also allows me to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors. I hope my creative mindset can help and apply to this year's Scribe! "

"I enjoy reading and writing which is why I was drawn to The Scribe. The Scribe distributes information to the student body and provides invaluable experience to the staff involved. It provides a platform for artistic work at NHS. It also is an outlet for writers to further investigate their interests."

"Hi! My favorite hobby has been drawing since I was in elementary school. One of my main interests would be playing video games in my free time, specifically play open world games because they're both fun and freeing in comparison to turn-based games. I am looking to contribute my drawings to The Scribe this year to promote art!"
