Classroom Management Expectations
In 5th grade, students will be recognized for their positive behavior as well as receive consequences for disruptive behavior. Students who consistently demonstrate appropriate behavior will be positively rewarded with praise, positive emails or phone calls, small rewards, and other special privileges. On the other hand, students who demonstrate distracting, disruptive, or disobedient behavior will have consequences as follows:
1st Offense - Verbal Warning
2nd Offense –Sideline/Separate from peers/loss of privileges
3rd Offense – Write a Reflection (have signed by a parent/guardian), Email to Parent/Guardian
4th Offense – Parent Conference
Homework/Classwork
Classwork is expected to be completed in class; however, if a student does not use his/her time wisely, the student will have to complete work at home. Occasionally, a student will have homework and/or projects that will need to be completed at home. Students are responsible to manage their time and complete assignments by the due dates. Students and parents should check PowerSchool to stay on top of grades.
Absent
If you are absent, you are responsible for checking with your teachers to gather homework, tests, or other important information. If you miss a test, you must see your teacher to make up the missing test. It is the student’s responsibility to complete missing work. Generally, students will have one school day for each day absent to complete missing work. For example, if a student missed two days of school, the student will have two days to make up work.
Late Work Policy
The student should turn in all work by the due date. The first nine weeks we will be stressing to the students the importance of turning assignments in on time. Any late work turned in after the first nine weeks will not be accepted.
Parent-Teacher Communication
Progress reports will be available from time to time and are always available upon request within reason. We will also be available by email, ClassDojo, phone (leave a detailed message) or text. We believe in open communication, so if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
We look forward to a great year!
