CogAT

What is CogAT?

The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is a K–12 assessment tool designed to estimate students' learned reasoning and problem-solving abilities. It includes a battery of verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal test items. The CogAT assesses students' acquired reasoning abilities and predicts achievement scores when used alongside the Iowa Tests. Originally published in 1954 as the Lorge-Thorndike Intelligence Test, the CogAT helps in student placement decisions for gifted education programs and is recognized by high IQ societies like Intertel for admission.
