Intervention & Referral Services (I&RS) is an interdisciplinary team of professionals within the school environment who come together throughout the school year to formulate coordinated services and team delivery systems to address the full range of student learning, behavior, social, and health problems in the general education program
Identify learning, behavior and health difficulties of students
Collect thorough information on the identified learning, behavior and health difficulties
Develop and implement action plans which provide for appropriate school or community interventions or referrals to school and community resources, based on the collected data and desired outcomes for the identified learning, behavior and health difficulties
Provide support, guidance, and professional development to school staff who identify learning, behavior and health difficulties
Provide support, guidance, and professional development to school staff who participate in each building’s system for planning and providing intervention and referral services
Actively involve parents or guardians in the development and implementation of intervention and referral services action plans
Section 504 is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities. Section 504 ensures that students with medical or other disabilities have equal access to an education. Qualified students may receive accommodations and modifications planned by persons knowledgeable about the students, the meanings of evaluation data, and placement and accommodation options.
Each child’s needs are determined individually. Determination of what is appropriate for each child is based on the nature of the disabling condition and what that child needs in order to have an equal opportunity to compete when compared to the non-disabled.
