What is Genesis and do I need it?

Genesis is an easy to use system that helps students and parents keep track of each students academic progress. Keep up to date on homework assignments, grades, attendance, progress reports and report cards. Below you will find answers to commonly asked questions about your Genesis parent and student accounts, step by step instructions on how to navigate your portal and most importantly how to register for an account. 


** Please allow 24- 48 hours for your account to be created.  If you are requesting a parent account and are not listed as a guardian on the students profile, an account will not be created for you.***

How can I change the language of the Parent Portal?

The language of the Parent Portal is determined by the language selection of the internet browser you are using.  For example:  If using Google Chrome,  scroll down to the bottom of the page and select what language the browser will display.

Where do I get my login?

To begin the process of obtaining a Parent Login click the Parents Enroll link to the left of this page. Once completed, an email will be sent with login credentials.

Your Genesis Parent Access Portal login is the email address we have on file. If you did not receive information about your login information, are unsure of the email address on file, or wish to add/change the email address on file, please contact the technology office of your child’s school.

What if I forget my password?

You can click on the “Forgot your password” link on the Parent Access Portal login page or you can contact the technology office of your child’s school to have your password reset.

Please note that you cannot be given your existing password.  For safety reasons, Genesis never displays a user’s password, even to the system administrators. If you lose or forget your password, you will be given a new, randomly generated password. You will then be required to change the new password the next time you login to the Parent Access Portal.

What is the URL for Parent Access Portal?

The Parent Access Portal is located at: https://parents.nplainfield.org

You can easily find this login page from the nplainfield.org district homepage (Under important links and click Parents Login).

How do I log out of the Parent Access Portal?

There is a small “Log Out” button at the upper right of every Parent Access Portal screen. Click the “Log Out” button.

How can I update my student’s Contact information?

Login to the Genesis Parent Portal and go to Contacts at the top right of the screen.  Edit/Add information and save changes as needed.

What if I do not have access to all my students?

If you need access to a student that is not yet linked to your Parent Access Portal login you should contact the technology office.

What if I don’t have access to my child’s report card?

Usually a school only displays the most recent report card that was sent home. If the actual report card is not available online, it may be that none has yet been sent home or that the previous marking period’s report card has been “turned off” so that the new marking period’s report card can be prepared.
