Testimonials

I am very honored to be the chairman of the English Club. I would like to share what I have gained during my tenure.  First and foremost, when I encounter difficulties, I never give up but do my utmost to complete the assigned tasks. Secondly, I am also very grateful for the teamwork given by my dedicated club members. We have learnt how to function effectively as a team.  During the organization of the English Club activities, if my members have any questions about the activities, I will answer them patiently and reach a consensus  that best fits our team.  In fact, not only have I improved my organizational skills and English communication skills but also new vocabulary throughout this learning process.

Overall, I am very grateful that I have learnt how to be an effective leader as well as contributed to raising NPC students’ interest in learning English.

Vivien Leung, 4D (Chairperson, 2022-2023)

This is my honor to have the opportunity to be one of the leading roles of the English club. As a vice- chairperson, I felt that it was challenging for me at the beginning, because I was an introverted person, I worried that I couldn’t do a good job on leading our members and students. Fortunately, I met a lot of kind and helpful teammates as well as teachers. During organizing different activities, I have significantly enhanced my leadership skills and communication skills as we have to cooperate with each other in order to achieve our goals efficiently and effectively. Lastly, I strongly recommend you join us for fun as well as  whole-person development.

Carina Chen, 4E (Vice-chairperson, 2022-2023)

It's an honor to be a part of the English Club, it's a wonderful and vibrant place. Whether you serve as a leader or a member, everyone can learn valuable knowledge in different aspects from it. For instance, we prepare every event with the "4C" - that is, “Commitment”, “Collaboration”, “Coordination”, and “Communication”. Besides, all of us practise these transferable skills and apply them in different areas of study as well as in their daily lives.

Beyond that, there's no doubt that each member receives a number of opportunities for their shining moment. We'll all have the chance to be hosts so that we can build our confidence through “learning-by-doing”.

Join us! Find your shining moment!

Hazel Chan, 4B (Vice Chairperson, 2022-2023)

I’m so honored to be the Chairperson of the English Club last year. By collaborating with our schoolmates and organising different events, these duties gave me an opportunity to develop my leadership skills and confidence. More importantly, learning how to be in other’s shoes was the biggest achievement - I’ve learned that I should consider every stakeholder and teammate's feeling comprehensively and try to get the best interest of everyone.

Mavis Yuen, 4D (Chairperson, 2019-2020)

English Club to me is like an after-school paradise, we meet every Tuesday and we talk about the event that we going to do. Teachers give us lots of space because they always listen to us and give advice on how we can do better. The main difference to other clubs is we speak English at all times.  This is rare and invaluable experience in daily life as I can improve my spoken English in every meeting.

Join us! You have lots of chances to make use of your creativity and your talents. Hope to see you next year!

Rachel Chan, 4B (Vice Chairperson, 2019-2020)

I have joined our English Club since I was Form 2. I decided to do so because I wanted to learn more English by leaving my comfort zone.

The most remarkable thing was I made a lot of new friends.  By running big functions together, we developed strong teamwork and friendships.  More importantly, we have learnt how to comfortably handle difficulties  together.  This is the most valuable life skill.

Abbie Kwok 3B (Arts Manager, 2019-2020)

To me, being an English Club Committee is a wonderful experience. As we handle many large events every year such as running game booths and being an emcee, I have learnt so much from this experience.   I have also learnt how to work well with my team members and how to be an effective leader. I trust this is the most impressive volunteer work experience in my school life.

Yanki Chen, 3B (Human Resources Manager, 2019-2020)

I am grateful to be part of our English Club for 2 years.  As to me, it is another family. Whether being the leader or member, I sincerely relish the time when everyone is pouring all the hearts into the same goal - to hold an entertaining and educational English learning programmes for NPC students.

While some for you may want to join us, perhaps you are afraid that you are not good at English - do not worry! We do not ask for perfection but the sense of responsibility is what we are looking for because we work and grow as a team: we always help out each other. Besides, English Club is a superb platform for you to communicate with each other in English at both of our meetings and activities.  As the old saying goes, 'Practice makes perfect'. If you don't try, you don't learn!  So seize the chance and join us now!

Cherry Chan, 4D (Chairperson, 2018-2019)

As Vice Chairperson, I learnt how to share the same goal with my members and closely organise and executive different activities in a timely manner.  This has made me become a careful person as I need to ensure everything is going on the right track.

Moreover, I have become more courageous when it comes to public speaking.  I had lots of chances to make speeches on the stage or instruct my members how to run various English games.  This has helped me to overcome my shyness and built my confidence in public speaking.
