There are countless opportunities for any FCCLA member to participate in. As a member of the Neligh-Oakdale chapter, you can attend monthly meetings, visit conferences, participate in local volunteer work, run for a leadership position, and compete with a STAR project. There are, of course, many other things you can do, some of which are found in the Opportunities or Activities section.
STAR stands for Students Taking Action with Recognition. Any member can complete a STAR project, which generally pursues an interest or prepares for the future. There are many different type of available projects from planning a family vacation to doing a sample job interview to creating a sports nutrition plan. Almost any hobby, from interior design to baking to building, can be made into a STAR project. For more information check out the STAR Events or Resources section.
Besides adding something to a college application or getting a cool t-shirt, there are many benefits to joining FCCLA. FCCLA gives members the opportunity to travel to many different places (even across the country!) and meet new people. Our chapter in particular provides many volunteer opportunities to truly make a difference in our community. Through FCCLA, members learn leadership, perseverance, time management, cooperation, confidence, and more! For more information, visit the Membership or FCCLA section.
Anyone from grades 7-12 can become a member of FCCLA at any point during the school year, but members will only get chapter t-shirts if they turn in their membership form by October 10th. Every year we have a Membership Night at the beginning of the year and an end-of-year meeting for all interested potential members. To become a member, one has to fill out a membership form and a health information form.
Members do have to pay dues in order to join FCCLA. This includes:
Total: $35.00
Note: Members who join later in the year will only have to pay $16 since they will miss out on the chapter t-shirt and District Leadership Conference.
