FCCLA is full of many events that give members opportunities to build their potential and expand their horizons. While this is not a complete list of every event FCCLA has to offer, it does describe some of the key annual events that every FCCLA member should be familiar with.
When: September
Where: Kearney, Nebraska
Who: Active or interested FCCLA members
What: Fall Leadership Workshop (or FLW) is a state-wide conference held in Kearney. This usually involves a keynote speaker or some other main activity, followed by various breakout sessions related to FCCLA or its sponsors. There are generally limited spots as far as who can go to the Fall Leadership Workshop, so it is usually attended by active or interested members in the chapter.

Where: Norfolk, Nebraska
Who: Any FCCLA member
What: District Leadership Conference, or DLC, is an opportunity for all members of the Neligh-Oakdale chapter to grow as leaders and learn more about FCCLA. The conference usually starts off with a keynote speaker and then hosts several breakout sessions regarding different topics or careers. There are also several competitions including a Knowledge Bowl, a yearbook and scrapbook contest, and a creed-speaking competition.
When: November
Where: Lincoln, Nebraska
Who: Top National STAR placers
What: Any STAR competitor who placed in the top three at the National Leadership Conference is invited to attend the Commissioner's Recognition. This event actually takes place at the State Capitol and is hosted by the governor themself. The ceremony generally involves being recognized on stage and visiting the governor's mansion afterwards for drinks and treats. To find out more about STAR, visit this page.

Where: Wayne, Nebraska
Who: STAR competitors
What: Anyone who is competing with a STAR project must attend the district competition. Participants will present their project in front of judges and will be given a score from zero to one hundred. Competitors receive medals according to their scores and are ranked among the other participants in their event and age group. The top two competitors from each category qualify for the state competition. For more information on STAR visit this page.

Who: New or interested members
What: The Peer Education Conference is a two-day event hosted by the State Peer Officer Team, but generally our chapter only attends the second day. The first day usually involves a fun game or competition while the second day is more focused on sessions. There are different awards given out at the Peer Education Conference focusing on certain national programs. For more information on national programs, visit the this page.
When: April
Where: Lincoln, Nebraska
Who: Chapter officers and State STAR qualifiers
What: The State Leadership Conference, or SLC, lasts a total of three days. During this conference, members listen to a keynote speaker and attend different breakout sessions. Members of the State Officer Team and State Peer Officer Team are selected and STAR qualifiers compete throughout the conference. The event concludes with the choice of a movie or a dance, and on the last day STAR results are announced. The top two competitors in each category qualify for the national competition.

Where: Location changes
Who: National STAR qualifiers
What: The National Leadership Conference (or NLC) lasts about a week in a location that rotates throughout the country (including Nashville, TN; Atlanta, GA; Anaheim, CA; and Washington DC). This conference is attended by members all around the country and features a keynote speaker and breakout sessions. Members can sample the local cuisine and STAR qualifiers compete in their final competition. There are also many fun tours of popular tourist destinations in the city and events such as concerts, dances, festivals, and more depending on the location.
