Lifelong Learners In a Changing World/Society

The mission of the Neligh-Oakdale School District is to provide an environment where all students will acquire the skills to become lifelong learners and productive citizens in a diverse, technologically changing global society. Upon graduation from Neligh-Oakdale Public School, the student will be able to:

Accept responsibility for his/her actions and exhibit self-control and self-discipline.
Nurture his/her own physical, mental, and emotional wellness.
Develop an awareness of and appreciation for our multicultural global society.
Acquire the knowledge for a practical application or progressive growth in technology.
Through a diverse curriculum, acquire and build upon a basic foundation, to continue formal education, to make a successful transition into the world of work, and continue to learn throughout their lives.

School Improvement Goal

Goal - Reading Comprehension

Priority Outcome: Students are empowered/intrinsically motivated/accountability is taught, stronger Tier 1 Core instruction (hard to implement Tier 3 when rigor at Tier 1 is low), increase in NSCAS and ACT proficiency (in all strands and for all demographic groups), improved student and family engagement, increase in attendance
Priority Goal: By the 2027-2028 school year, proficiency on spring NSCAS ELA will increase from 54% (NEP Spring) to 60%.
- Additional measures to monitor progress:

K-2: By the 2027-2028 school year, MAPS percentiles will increase from 47% (Reading) to 55%.
3-8: By the 2027-2028 school year, NSCAS proficiency levels will increase from 54% to 60%.
9: By the 2027-2028 school year, MAPS percentiles will increase from 40% (Reading) to 45%.
10: By the 2027-2026 school year, Pre-ACT proficiency levels will increase from 21% (Reading) to 25%.
11: By the 2027-2028 school year, ACT proficiency levels will increase from 23% (Reading) to 27%.
