Welcome to reading class with Mr. Long!
Our reading class will use a mix of materials, as we work this year to transition from the K-2 reading series into the study of literature novels similar to grades 4 & 5. We will read select stories from the grade 3 blue Reading Mastery books, some non-fiction booklets, and a handful of novels this year. Typically our classwork/homework will consist of reading a story in the RM book or a chapter/section in a booklet or novel, followed by pages to complete in a packet. Most often the packet will consist of two pages. We will sometimes be able to complete this work in class, but at times readers may have to complete the packet work at home as homework.
Readers at Nova are also expected to do some free reading each/most evenings and weekends. See below for details.
Our Current Work:
We will finish the year with one final book, The Cricket in Times Square. We will be reading two chapters most days in order to finish the book by the last day of school.
