7th Grade World Geography & 8th Grade US History
2024-2025
7th Grade World Geography: We will be hopping from Continent to Continent, learning about cultures around the Earth! We will also investigate how geography determines how and where people settle. A monthly current event will be assigned at a regular interval for each unit.
8th Grade US History: This year we will be focusing on Early America to The Age of Protest and Reform. A weekly current event will be assigned to students at a regular interval to break up periods.
This will be my first year at Nottingham School, and my third year teaching overall! In the past I have taught 10th Grade World Cultures, and I am so excited to start my Middle School journey! I have traveled around the globe and hope to share some of what makes our world so great with my students!
I graduated from UNH in 2022 with my M.Ed in Secondary Social Studies Education and a B.A. in History. I am certified 5-12 in New Hampshire.
Civics: Students will be able to distinguish different types of governments on a global scale. They will also be able to identify the different attributes and branches of the US Government. Students will learn how to be active and engaged citizens in our nation.
Economics: Students will learn about the different types of economics in the world and make comparisons. They will also familiarize themselves with concepts such as supply and demand, and analyze the challenges an unstable economy might create.
Geography: Students will understand how political, physical, and human geography impact where people settle and how. This will apply to the past, present, and future!
History: Students will explore the different eras and themes in US History to gain a large picture understanding of the development of our nation. They will be able to analyze the different turning points that led us to where we are today!

As we prepare students for high school, there are certain skills that are important for every student to learn and practice in their work. My hope is that these skills will also apply to their daily lives. This year, we will work on the following in social studies:
Communication: Students will be able to communicate their ideas in writing or oral presentation. This also involves being able to have conversations with their peers, as well as communicate with teachers when they have missed work.Â
Collaboration: Students will be able to collaborate with their peers to work on projects in class. This identifies their ability to share and work with others.
Innovation: Students are able to create work with their own original ideas and make something useful or a display of their creativity.
Self-Direction: Students are able to take charge of their own learning and identify what they need to do, as well as how they need to do it.
