Service Project: Tutoring

OVERVIEW

As inducted members of NHS, you are required to complete 15 hours of tutoring at NDA in order to remain in good standing and be eligible to wear the gold NHS cord at graduation.

Members must complete 15 hours of tutoring, no matter if you were inducted as a junior or a senior.

REQUIRED: TUTOR TRAINING WORKSHOP

In order to be a tutor, you must complete the tutor training workshop with Dr. Diane Mulroney (Doctora.) You only need to do the training once. After you complete the training, submit 30 minutes in Mobile Serve to the NHS goal and request Doctora as your verifier: dmulroney@notredameacademy.com.

TUTORING IN STUDENT SERVICES (Tutoring in Guided Study Hall or 1-to-1 tutoring)

Student Services will reach out to NHS members to fill their tutoring needs. Please do not ask Guided Study Hall teachers if you can tutor with them.

SS will give you additional specific training to work with individual students.

Sign in with Ms. Brianna Rockwood at the beginning of the period.

For one class period of tutoring, enter 45 minutes in Mobile Serve, no matter the schedule (regular, advisory, mass.)

Your Mobile Serve verifier will be the person who supervised your tutoring:

Student Services will match up tutors with students based on students' schedules and the needs of the student who wants tutoring. Please be aware that there is no guarantee that you will be contacted to tutor in Student Services. Take advantage of the other tutoring opportunities offered below.

TUTORING DURING YOUR STUDY HALL IN THE LIBRARY (1-to-1 tutoring)

Fill out the "I want to be a tutor" form at the beginning of each semester. You can find this form in your NDA Bookmarks, the student newsletter, and our GC page.

We will match you with a student and you will tutor in the library.

TUTORING AT STUDY TALBES: MONDAY-THURSDAY 3:30-4:30 IN THE LIBRARY

Fill out the Google Form Doctora sends every 2 weeks via email and our GC page.

Doctora assigns the hours and shares them among all interested students, so you may not get all the hours you signed up for.

If Doctora schedules you, she will share the schedule with you. Please do not show up to tutor without being scheduled.

If after being scheduled you cannot attend, please email Doctora ASAP and she will find a replacement. Please do not find your own sub.

For 1 session of tutoring, submit 1 hour in Mobile Serve.

BOOKS & BAGELS (FINAL EXAM STUDY TABLES)

Held in December and May on the Saturday before final exams: 9:00 am-12:00 noon.

Show up, sign in, and sign out.
