Representatives are appointed positions and do not give speeches or have voting.
This student attends the School Board meeting held quarterly at 4:00 p.m (with some exceptions), answers questions from the Board of Education members about student opinion or reaction, possibly serves on special sub-committees of the Board, and ultimately reports back to the Executive Board about school board concerns or decisions. Most board meetings last at least an hour and sometimes much longer.
These students meet on an as-needed basis with the Principal and Associate Principal to discuss student ideas or concerns. The administration might ask this Rep to serve on special committees involving spring week, fall fest, public relations, fundraising, and/or parental concerns.
These students attend the Curriculum and Student Life meetings held every third Thursday of the month. They participate in meeting discussions and ultimately report back to the Executive Board about concerns or decisions or ideas generated that would require a student government proposal.
This position is relatively new. Over the past few years our need to connect successfully in all forms of media has increased. This student will be in charge of promoting the events that student government sponsors, making posters, written and video communication and our Instagram account, called NDAUpdates. Because technology evolves and our needs constantly change, this job is constantly evolving. If you are interested in this position you should feel comfortable with technology in all mediums, and have very good written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Canva a must and samples of your social postings may be requested.
