The art department is offering extra credit for students who complete one or more of the art enrichment summer assignments that are posted here. Students who complete an assignment must turn it in during the fall of 2022. Each assignment completed will earn the student an extra participation grade on their art average. Semester one students will receive the extra points on their term 1 grade (and term 2 if two assignments are completed). Semester two students will receive the extra points on their term 3 grade (and term 4 if two assignments are completed).
Students of all grades are eligible to complete these assignments. They can choose from any category listed below. Students must bring in the artwork, or take a picture of it that they can share with their art teacher in the fall.
If you have a Pinterest account and would like additional examples/ideas for potentials summer art enrichment, check out the Coakley Art Pinterest Page.
1. Become an Illustrator: Read through your summer reading book. Choose a scene or character and bring it to life through a drawing! You can use your own choice of material and/or colors. (You can even redesign the cover of the book if you want!)
2. Portrait Artist: Draw a portrait of a family member (you can have them pose from you or work from a photograph or even memory!)
3. Learn Something New: Watch and follow along with YouTube Drawing Tutorial, think about something you've always wanted to be able to create, and make it a reality!
1. Fashion/Jewelry Design: Make something that you can wear! You can sew, knit, crochet, or sculpt!
2. Found Object Sculptures: Make a sculpture out of objects in your house, take a photo of your final piece! (This is a great way to get school credit for fort building!)
3. Sculpting: Look up a recipe for salt dough or at home air dry clay! Create a sculpture of your favorite animal out of the dough! (If you don't want to sculpt an animal, you can try sculpting something else, too!)
1. Become an Animator: Create a flip book (animation) with your choice of subject and theme.
2. Stop-Motion Film: Use your phone or tablet to design and direct a stop motion animation movie (there are many different apps available to help you get started)!
3. Get Outside: Create a colorful chalk mural outside and take a picture of it when you are done!
