The Westmoreland Interscholastic Reading Competition (WIRC) is geared for students who share a passion for reading. WIRC is a county-wide reading competition for students in grades 6-12. Students read from a selection of 30 novels over the course of the school year, and then compete by answering questions about the books. The competition is held at Seton Hill University in March. Mrs. Brooks, a seventh grade English & Language Arts teacher, is the team sponsor. Students can checkout the books from the middle school library and the Norwin Public Library has a number of WIRC books in their digital collection.
