Conservation Club (formerly known as Nature Club) is ready to kick off the 2024-25 school year! Activities will be held in the Habitat Discovery Garden, weather permitting, and will cover a variety of hands-on nature related topics, including garden maintenance, environmental issues, careers, crafts, guest speakers, and more!
Jr Conservation Club is open to 4th and 5th grade students only and will be held after school from 3:50-5:00pm. Since meetings will be held outside as often as weather allows, students may choose to bring a change of comfortable clothes or shoes, and an optional personal snack (snacks will not be provided). In case of inclement weather, meetings will be moved to the art room or library.
If your student would like to participate, please complete the permission slip that was sent home and return to Mrs Dutter no later than Friday October 4th. While we do our best to schedule meetings around other school functions, we understand that scheduling conflicts sometimes still happen- students are not required to attend every meeting to be considered “active” and can simply join us once again the following month!
STUDENTS MUST HAVE THEIR PERMISSION SLIP SIGNED AND RETURNED BY OCTOBER 4TH IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE.

**Note to Parents: Please arrange for your child to be picked up promptly at 5 PM. While we will never leave a student unattended, due to other building activities it is difficult for staff to supervise students that remain after 5 PM. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with student pick up. **

Take a nature walk and admire the beauty around you
Make a pledge (to begin composting, to recycle more...whatever you choose) and plan out the steps on how to stick to it!
Use sidewalk chalk, make signs, a video, or other presentation to remind others how to be kind to the environment (throwing away trash, reduce/reuse/recycle, turning off lights, preserving habitats for bees, bats, and butterflies, etc) for your home or post for others to see. Educate others how they can help take action!
Plant trees, flowers, or vegetables.
Collect trash you find in parks and fields and along roadsides (with parent help, of course!)
Upcycle items into something new (old cans for plant pots, broken pottery into garden markers or decorations, new uses for old clothing, etc) Check out some of these FUN CRAFT IDEAS
