NES Nature Club Spring Updates
Hello Nature Club families!
Below are the dates for our spring meetings. Note that all meetings fall on Thursdays, once a month. We have done our best to work around conflicting events on the school calendar. There is no need for you to resubmit another permission slip for your child to continue participating in the club. We also understand that personal scheduling conflicts happen and your child may not be able to participate in every meeting- no worries, as we are happy for your child to join us simply whenever they are able!
We are also moving towards a “rebrand” of the Nature Club. Since its creation in 2018, we have evolved and refined our goals and structure of the group but have always kept our focus on providing students with opportunities to connect to nature. Therefore, NES Nature Club will be officially renamed as “Junior Conservation Club” for the remainder of the 2023-24 school year and carried forward into the future. We feel that this name change better reflects our club’s activities and we hope it will serve as a stepping stone for students to get involved in other school clubs and classes in the future.

Happy Earth Day!
April 22
Ways to celebrate Earth Day:
Take a nature walk and admire the beauty around you
Make a pledge (to begin composting, to recycle more...whatever you choose) and plan out the steps on how to stick to it!
Use sidewalk chalk, make signs, a video, or other presentation to remind others how to be kind to the environment (throwing away trash, reduce/reuse/recycle, turning off lights, preserving habitats for bees, bats, and butterflies, etc) for your home or post for others to see. Educate others how they can help take action!
Plant trees, flowers, or vegetables.
Collect trash you find in parks and fields and along roadsides (with parent help, of course!)
Upcycle items into something new (old cans for plant pots, broken pottery into garden markers or decorations, new uses for old clothing, etc) Check out some of these FUN CRAFT IDEAS
