I think I can speak for the students, as well as for myself, that we are excited for this year of Junior Conservation Club!
We hope to be able to explore a variety of topics that are nature-related and many of which will have a conservation, preservation, or restoration aspect to them.
In the end, my goal is for your student to learn something new that they can apply to their own life, home, backyard, or community space, or discover a new passion or goal that they want to pursue further.
Our monthly meetings are largely dependent on the weather and the changing of the seasons. For our first meeting, we focused on the changing fall leaves. We learned why they change color and then went to the Habitat Discovery Garden to see what leaves we could find and possibly identify. Along the way, some students picked up "mystery leaves" that they were able to identify using tree and leaf identification books.
