Did you know that you can practice math skills while playing fun games? Well, you can! Below, I will add some resources to help you practice math skills at home while simply playing games! Please feel free to print these resources for your use, or make your own game boards to fit the materials you have available at home!
Why play games to practice math skills?
Playing isn't just for little kids, but we see that little kids learn so much about the world, language, their environment, and so much more by simply playing games! Playing games is something that many people enjoy, so why not use that to help us learn? Practicing through playing games can be a powerful tool! It can make math more hands-on, especially than a traditional worksheet! Using games also provides an endless string of potential practice problems that you don't have to agonize over creating or making different! By shuffling the deck or rolling the dice, you can create new sets of numbers to practice from.
And, since we need math, shouldn't learning it be fun?
Some of these games are modifications of existing games that you might even play - like playing War, but to win the hand you have to multiply or add the numbers correctly! Some of these games may be new and different. There are instructions that come with each.
For now, students will have to log into their Norwayne accounts to see the uploaded PDFs, or they can access them from their Google Classroom.
I hope that you use these games to support your child's learning and help them to become excited about their continuing journey as a mathematician!
