Have your student read as much of the text as they can and then sequence the story.
Have your child cross off the picture as they are counting.
This video is of a teacher reading aloud "Clarence works for money." She is reading level C while some of your children have level D. They will still gain more understanding of the story by watching.
Have your child listen to the story about the wind and then do your own experiment! Find different items in the house and see if the wind can blow them. (You could use a hair dryer or just yourself blowing). Encourage language with your child!
