Important things you should know about our classroom…
1. Communication: Every night your child will bring home his/her Take Home Binder. Please check for homework and any other papers. Planners need to be signed and returned the next day.
2. Discipline: NES uses the PAX program.
3. Homework: It is your child’s responsibility to complete his/her homework every night. They will have a math practice and 10 minute reading log. Homework should not take more than 30 minutes to complete. “Homework Counts” is a school-wide expectation.
4. Spelling: There will be no spelling homework assigned, however, students will have a spelling test each week.
5. Newsletter: Newsletters will be sent home weekly on Friday. This gives you an overview of the following week’s schedule, specials schedule, and important dates coming up.
6. Poetry Folder: Every Friday, students will bring home his/her Poetry Folder. On Monday, students who read at least 1 poem and have their folder signed will get a sticker. 5 stickers = a pick from the treasure chest!!!
7. Specials:NES will follow a color coded/5 day rotation schedule. This means specials will not always be on the same day, but will always be 1:45-2:25pm. I highly encourage you to send in an old pair of tennis shoes to be kept in your child's locker for PE days. The first day of school is a red day, my class will have Enrichment.
8. Breakfast and Lunch are FREE and Milk 50 cents. Our lunch is 10:45-11:05am and recess is 11:05-11:25am.
9. Toys: The Second Grade team does not permit students to bring in toys, electronics, or Pokemon cards.
10. Supplies: Students will keep all of their extra supplies in their locker for when needed throughout the year.
