Somerset Studio School has an outstanding range of industry linked student projects under the umbrella of R&D. Sixth Form students get involved with all the project teams through dedicated time after school every Tuesday and throughout the school week.

Reptile Group

Reptile group is a student led project caring for multiple reptiles in the Somerset Studio School reptile house. Students are able to utilise links with Longleat and The Living Rainforest

SSS media hub

Working with film and film editing the Media group are responsible for a wide range of projects. Partners include the BBC Wildlife Film Unit. Students also have the opportunity to write articles for the school newspaper, entirely created by students.

plant r&D Project

The Orchid Project is a world leader in orchid propagation, education and conservation working with partners in Borneo and Rwanda. The group has recently gained funding from the USA to further develop student's work in Sarawak.
