Social Studies
In third grade we focus on the following content areas for social studies:
-Native Americans
-United States Geography
-Civil Rights (Women's Rights, Workers' Rights, and more!)
In addition to the areas listed above we will take time to learn about major events in history and why they were important.
What's Happening?
The first unit for social studies will be studying Native Americans. We will be exploring how they lived in the past, and how Native Americans still live today. Students will take a field trip to the Great Bay Discovery Center and get hands-on experience with Native American artifacts, food, and shelters. Then, students in 3T will be researching the Sioux tribe of the Great Plains. This unit will accumulate with us writing an informative text on the Sioux Tribe using all that we have learned.
