Together, in Solidarity

In light of the latest tragedy and a pattern of racial injustice and inequity in this country - the Social Workers of NSA-CP are speaking out together, in solidarity. We chose the social work profession instead of another helping profession because of our professional value of social justice. Now is the time to let our voices be heard.

Tragedies like George Floyd’s death leave us feeling overwhelmed and isolated; and as a result it is important to show empathy and awareness to emotional traumas. Empathy is a powerful tool to understand the effects of racism and inequalities and the impacts of one's mental and physical health. Emotional trauma is the result of extraordinarily stressful events impact our sense of security within the world.

In response to this, we have created a Diversity Resource tab to share and promote resources that promote mental health awareness, reducing stigma and discrimination, supporting recovery and social inclusion. It is our sincere hope that these resources are helpful to you in addressing emotional trauma, wellness, and ways to survive and resist the hate that all too often surrounds us.
