My name is Raivin Smith, I'm 22 years old and I'm your new choreographer. I started dancing when I was 5, then continued on dancing into high school and college. I attended Boston Arts Academy (BAA) majoring in dance, and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) majoring in Dance & Choreography. Throughout my years of dancing, I have trained in a variety of styles ranging culturally as well, while having a heavy foundation in ballet and modern technique. My musical theater experience began in high school for our schools production of "Memphis" where I was a lead dancer. That continued into numerous summers of dance intensives such as Earl Mosely Institute of the Arts (EMIA) and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. I am very excited to be here working for the Y, where I can continue my love for choreography while also creating new and exciting experiences for the youth! Dance can become such a powerful voice for people who don't feel heard, so my purpose is to create an inspiring space for everyone!
