Useful links

Below you will find some useful links to support your child with their phonics, reading and writing.

  • Phonics Play - Here you will find a range of games to help with sound recognition, blending, recognising tricky words and sentence reading. (Username: jan21 Password: home)

  • Phonics Bloom - A website similar to Phonics Play that you may wish to explore. There are some free games and some you must subscribe to get access to.

  • Get Epic! - This website/app allows you to search through endless topics to find digital books to read at home. Some of the books have the option for them to be read to you, with each word being highlighted as it is read. Others also allow you to click on a word to find out when it says and means if you are unsure. What a fantastic resource to keep up a love of reading over the summer!

  • Alphablocks - Each episode of this 5 minute Cbeebies show highlights how to pronounce different sounds and encourages children to blend them into words. The earlier series focus on single letter sounds and the later series include digraphs (two letters, one sound) and compound words (star + fish = starfish).

  • Oxford Owl - There are free resources under 'Oxford Owl for Home' and some Read Write Inc. resources you can access with a class login - we would really suggest you take a look at these! For more information about accessing these, click here.

We would always encourage you to make learning as hands on and practical as possible, so do let us know if you have any questions about any resources. If you have an explore and find your child really engages with something we haven't suggested, this is absolutely fine! We won't know everything that is out there and all children are different and will enjoy different things.
