Tuhia ki te rangi, tuhia ki te whenua, tuhia ki ngā ngākau o ngā tāngata katoa.
Ko te mea nui, ko te aroha. Tihei wā mauri ora.
On behalf of Northland College and the Ngā Manu Kōrero hosting committee, I welcome all our schools from throughout Te Tai Tokerau. We are all looking forward to hearing from our leaders of tomorrow as they both inspire and enlighten us with their individual topics.
As the search for meaningful and purpose-driven work increases, technology transforms our lives and our social and environmental challenges become ever more visible. There has never been a better and more critical time to ensure that our students are given every opportunity to enjoy and achieve educational success.
The Ngā Manu Kōrero Speech Competition is now entering its 54th year, with the national finals this year being held in Manawatu. History clearly shows us that many of our past participants have gone on to be our future leaders.
Best wishes to all participants and congratulations on taking the opportunity to challenge yourself.
Ko te manu e kai ana i te miro, nōna te ngahere. Ko te manu e kai ana i te mātauranga, nōna te ao.
The one who partakes of the flora and fauna, that will be their domain. The one who engages in education, opportunities are boundless.Nō reira, ko tēnei tāonga, he tāonga nā ngā mātāwaka o runga o Aotearoa.
Noho ora mai.
