This week we are reviewing our last short vowel of the group- "e"! Usually our spelling pattern follows our focus sound. However, that is not the case for our 3rd week in Module 1. Our spelling pattern this week is: Open and Closed Syllables! We started learning about these types of syllables today. We will get to the expection words (cold, most, find) later this week.
Literacy Folders went home today!! This is a GREAT resource to use at home. There are worksheets in there that need to be completed and returned by Friday.
Wednesday, all September Book Bingos are due back!
FRIDAY both classes are celebrating another Friendship Party!! Funny enough, both classes picked a Stuffy Day! This means your student can bring ONE stuffed animal to school on Friday and it has to FIT IN the backpack.
Friday is also Arrowhead's Homecoming Parade if you are interested. It started at 4:30 and runs through downtown Hartland.
It is that time of year! The weather changes all day. Please encourage your student to wear/pack layers to school. First recess tends to be chilly and second recess is warm. Let's set these kids up for success!

Welcome back for our 1st FULL week of school! 📆 Buckle up because we have a lot to share....
🔴Today in reading, we started our Into Reading curriculum!! This will become a regular routine but for the first time there are a few things to look for/explain:
-Summary Sheets in the GREEN Folder: There are yellow summary sheets your student will get weekly that covers the theme, phonics, spelling words and more! This is the most helpful sheet for our weekly reading focus/topics.
-RED Literacy Folders: The bagged folders go home on Mondays and come back by Fridays, returned with completed work. The paper books can stay home to make their own home library.
-Spelling Tests- Each Friday we will have a spelling test based on the words from the yellow summary sheet. To help your child feel extra prepared, please help them practice at home.
🔵Culver's Night is tonight at the Hartland Location from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Flavor of the Day is Chocolate Caramel Twist. If you go you might see Mrs. Tark and Mrs. Flannery!
🟡North Lake Spiritwear Orders have been extended to Wednesday. September 16th is the last day to order!
🎉FRIDAY (9/18), we will have our 1st FRIENDSHIP Party!!! Students can wear pajamas to school and bring ONE blanet (that must come in a backpack or bag).

Hello Families!
We had a lot going on today for the beginning of our school week. Today, as a whole school, we practiced a Lock Down Drill. We had very good discussions before and after the drill. Please check in with your student and see how they did! ✅
Big News in Math- we started Unit 1 today! In the folders you will see a packet with information, vocabulary and practice activities all connected to Unit 1. Students also got their first page of math homework today!
During chromebooks we logged into Kids A-Z. This is a GREAT online resource that the students can use at home to build on their reading skills. All of the students have their sign in taped to the inside of their folders. Reading books on Kids A-Z DOES count for their Book Bingo.💻📚
Lastly, Grandparents lunch is this Friday with our session starting at 11:45!! In the notes section of the folders please let us know if 1.) Any special guests are coming, and if so 2.) how many.

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!🏫🎒
The kids did a GREAT job today- especially after dealing with very hot recesses! We are looking forward to a wonderful year with these 1st graders.
