For the second Student Spotlight, we present Risa Tobin apart of the class of 2023! Risa has been playing the trumpet since the 4 grade. That's 9 years in total! She has been the Co-principal trumpet at the Greater New Haven Youth Orchestra. She was also the Principal Trumpet for the Southern Connecticut Regional Orchestra in 2022. She was a part of our Wind Ensemble since her freshman year, our Jazz 1 band since her Junior Year, and a part of our Treble Choir in her senior year. 

Risa got to participate in the Allstate band in 2022 as well as the Connecticut Regional Orchestra that same year. In 2023, she got to participate in the Allstate Orchestra, she was an All National Band and Orchestra alternate, she was a part of the NafMe All Eastern Orchestra, and finally, she was a member of our pit in the production of "Newsies". 

We want to thank Risa for all the hard work she has put into our music program for the past 4 years of her high school life. We cannot wait to see what you accomplish later on in life!

For our first Student Spotlight, we present Nicole Ortiz part of the class of 2023. As a Freshman Nicole was part of both the Jazz Band and One Voice Choir. During her Sophomore year, Nicole joined the Treble Choir. Now during her Junior year, Nicole is part of both the Treble Choir and the Jazz Band. She mainly plays alto and tenor saxophone, as well as the trumpet, but recently she has started to play soprano saxophone and piano. Nicole also goes to ECA, where she is part of their Jazz Ensemble and SATB choir. 

Nicole has participated on the All State competitions for choir during her Junior year, as well as The Regional competitions for alto saxophone during her Freshman year. She is planning to participate again in these competitions next year during her Senior year.

Nicole also performed in this year's musical of "Mamma Mia!" Where she got to play as Sophie Sheridan. 

Thank you Nicole for your excellent and hard work for the past three years in the North Haven Music Department community. We can't wait to see what other great accomplishments you'll do next year.
