Leaning Into Learning

Leaning Into Learning is a book club series dedicated to education, dialogue, and collective growth around issues of race and equity. Through affinity-based reading groups, open conversation, and shared reflection, Leaning Into Learning empowers participants to sit with hard truths, connect with community, and deepen their understanding of racial and social justice. Rooted in Northern Michigan E3's commitment to local libraries and independent community bookstores, the series creates a space where learning is grounded, accessible, and rooted in place. Guided by E3 Council Members throughout, Leaning Into Learning invites participants into a shared journey of awareness, accountability, and transformation.

Fall Series

Our inaugural asynchronous book club is live! Register today through September 12th. Get your book, invite family, friends, and colleagues and get started! On Sept 13th, we’ll host a virtual welcome party and begin our shared journey as, together, we Lean Into Learning!

Throughout the fall, we will provide guided questions for discussion on a dedicated, virtual, Discord thread. Don’t know what Discord is? No worries. We got you! After registering, you’ll receive instructions and support on getting access to Discord and our Leaning Into Learning discussion threads!

What are we reading? BIPOC folx will be reading I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness by Austin Channing Brown. White-Bodied folx will be reading Waking Up White and Finding Myself in the Story of Race by Debby Irving.

Where do I get my book? We have taken the liberty of searching for BIPOC owned and local options for these books. You can find them below. Found them somewhere else? Feel free to share and we'll promote that source to the group.
