NORTHERN CASS DI

INFO MEETING 2021

WELCOME TO THE 2022-2023 SEASON!

Northern Cass DI is open to all learners in grades 2-12. Teams of up to seven members participate at four levels: Elementary (grades 3-5), Middle (gr. 6-8), Secondary (gr. 9-12), and non-competitive Rising Stars (2nd grade). Each team must have a volunteer team manager to take the students through the process. Parents are asked to fill this role. Teams typically meet at school or in homes for 2-3 hours a week beginning in September/October through to the Affiliate Tournament, March 11, 2023.

NEW THIS YEAR!

Before our teams start working together on their solutions, they will work on basic skills they will need throughout the season. Each week will have a different focus. All age groups will work together to learn the skills. Training will be held after school on four Tuesdays at the start of the season. Snacks will be provided.

What is Destination Imagination?

Destination Imagination (DI) is a fun, hands on system of learning that fosters students' creativity, courage, and curiosity through open-ended academic Challenges in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), fine arts, and service learning. Our participants learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative problem solving process. We prepare students for the careers of tomorrow - and we start as early as second grade!

Teams are comprised of 2-7 learners across four levels: Early Learning (gr. 2), Elementary Level (3-5), Middle Level (6-8), and Secondary Level (9-12). Early Learning is non-competitive while grades three and older are competitive. You can view this year's Challenge Previews here.

Learn more about DI in the 21-22 Northern Cass Information Meeting video or the DI videos below.

DI Handbook2223.pdf

Sometimes Destination Imagination can feel overwhelming. There is a LOT going on. This is why we put it all together into one handy dandy handbook: to help answer some of those questions.

In this handbook, we cover the general program, behavior expectations, plans for success, snack policy, tournaments, and more. If the answer isn't in here, contact mary.howatt@northerncassschool.com to get your questions answered - and maybe add those answers to the handbook!
